John Lowe
Dr. Lowe is a virologist and environmental scientist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He serves as Executive Director of Global Center for Health Security and the Director of Research for the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit. Dr. Lowe is the Nebraska Co-Principal Investigator for NETEC.
Dr. Lowe is one of five core leaders that oversaw care for three patients with Ebola virus disease and initial U.S. citizens repatriated with COVID-19 to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During activation, Dr. Lowe provided scientific guidance for all aspects of isolation and quarantine. In his role, Dr. Lowe coordinates patient transportation, exposure risk assessment, decontamination, waste processing, and research associated with the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit.
Dr. Lowe received his PhD from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a research focus on exposure assessment and remediation of infectious diseases. Dr. Lowe completed a MS in molecular virology at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
