hi :) i hope it's okay to ask, i love your colorings especially on your the bear gifs, would you consider making a tutorial for how you colour the kitchen scenes in the show, like the scenes that have a lot of white in the background and are quite bright? i find them really hard to color without making everyone's skin look muddy and i'd love to know how you make yours look so good. no worries if not though!
hellooo! sure, here's a quick tutorial on bright scenes :)
could we get a tutorial of the tinder gifset then? it is soooo good
absolutely! unfortunately tumblr only let's to upload 30 photos per post, so now i'm posting the first gif tutorial since it was the most requested one! pls let me know if anyone wants a tutorial of other gifs <3
anyways, here's my tinder profile gif tutorial! (can be found here and here)
hi! do u mind explaining how u did the square overlay in this set? thank u sm 🫶🏽
hi sorry for taking so long to answer. i hope this helps and makes sense (if you have any other questions feel free to ask or I could even send you the psd if you want). tutorial below the cut as it's image heavy :)
Hello!! A couple years ago I posted this tutorial for making gifs with a moving overlay effect. In the two and a half years since I made that tutorial, I've learned some new tricks for this gif effect but most importantly I've learned how to explain things better.
For that reason, I've created this new and improved tutorial for my overlay gif effect. The basics are the same but it's simpler, I go into more detail, give better explanations, and have more comprehensive instructions.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you a quick and easy way to get this animated sound wave effect that’s unique to any song you choose! (You can check out a similar effect in my Obi-Wan Kenobi and Miles Morales gifsets too.) Disclaimer: This tutorial assumes you have a basic understanding of gif-making in Photoshop.
BEATING HEART EFFECT TUTORIAL:
I was asked by the amazing Samantha@shegos how I made the animated beating heart effect on my Witcher gifset so I thought I would make a tutorial about it! I’ve used this same effect before on this Merlin gifset. This tutorial assumes you have basic giffing skills and work on Photoshop with a timeline.
I could have sworn you did a tutorial on this before but I couldn't find it in your tutorial tag. In any event, if it's not too much trouble, could you provide some tips as to how you did the effect of the Greek deity paintings side by side with the Hargreeves siblings? Thanks so much!
oh you’re right, i think maybe i didn’t tag it correctly so that’s on me! i’ll gladly explain it again, it’s all about clipping masks ♥
you guys know i’m a blending type of gal but this trick comes in handy for so many purposes and it’s great in general when you need something to affect just that one layer and not everything else.
what you need to do is pretty straightforward, make your gif or your edit like normal, then create a new layer to put in the silhouette you want for your other picture/gif. it can be a brush, a texture, something you create with the shape tool, anything really! in this case i’m using a brush from this setand this is what the gif looks like now.
now go to your other tab with the second image (in this case it’s another gif, when i did the paintings edit it was just static pictures, it doesn’t change anything). right click on the layer › duplicate layer › hit on the canvas where the rest of the edit is.
now the only thing left is to right click again on the adult vanya layer › choose createclipping mask and voilà. then you can start coloring, write the text and everything else.
clipping masks are great for a lot of things, i mostly use them when i need to adjust the coloring on just one gif and leave the others alone. any layer with clipping mask enabled will affect just the one directly under it (don’t worry you can pile up adjustment layers). hope this was not too confusing!
hi y'all!! anon asked me how I made my mobile header and sidebar gifs on my desktop theme so I figured I would make a little tutorial. (this is my first one which is super exciting, but also please bear with as i try to do this lol. if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!) you will need a basic knowledge of gifmaking. I use photoshop 2022 on mac :)
A few people have asked how I did the effect in my pinned post and this set. So, in this tutorial, I’ll show you how to do this typing animation and give you a download to a template I made for the overlay! Disclaimer: This tutorial uses Video Timeline and assumes you have a basic understanding of gif-making in Photoshop.
hi :) would you be willing to explain how you got the red colour accent on the b&w gifs on your pinned lucifer/deckerstar set?
hey anon, no problem! 💖 i think some people do this via channel mixer but I use Gradient Maps to do it in this post because I find it easier in video timeline, I’ll explain it below the cut:
anonymous asked 💬 how did you make the coloring of the gif on your announcement post? ive read how you used clipping mask, but if you could go into more details on how adding the purple in on the spiderman gif? like how did you make it purple but peter’s suit’s still red?
COLOR MANIPULATION TUTORIAL BY USERGIF
idk if anyone else calls it color “manipulation” but me.. it makes it sounds really intense, but it’s not! it’s just what i’ve always called coloring that deviates from the “natural” colors of a scene. surprisingly, i got away with coloring this gif using just 8 layers. so, in this tutorial, i’m going to walk you through each layer and my (pretty detailed) reasons for each adjustment. fair warning, very gif- and ramble-heavy tutorial under the cut:
tutorial: how to get rid of the transparent borders around gifs
if your gifs appear to have borders around them (most noticeable in darker gifs), you can get rid of them by changing the default color blend mode. the borders do not depend on the way you crop your gifs, but rather on the color photoshop uses to blend transparent pixels.
