Get hands on
- [Instructor] It's the end of another module, so let's get some hands-on experience once again and use that knowledge learned from the module. Let's give it a try. Install Wireshark on your Wi-Fi capable laptop. In this module, we learned about network analyzers as well as protocol analyzers, and you saw the difference between the two. Now you can use that experience to install Wireshark on a Wi-Fi capable laptop. Connect as shown in the video. Make sure you connect to the Wi-Fi card so you only see wireless traffic. Then pause the video and let's take a look at the results. Let's see the results of your Wireshark experiment. Did you find out anything surprising about Wi-Fi traffic using Wireshark? And did you discover any errors in your Wi-Fi network? You saw a lot of wireless data that was flying across the network, and there are multiple different types of protocols and traffic types, and it's a great learning experience to see all the packets within Wireshark. And you can also do this with your wired network as well. After seeing all this traffic, will you make any changes to your wireless network based on this information? And did you see the errors that were in the wireless traffic and how maybe you could fix them based on the demonstrations learned from this module? Hopefully this taught you the value of a protocol analyzer that you can use in your career. I'm sure you can use this knowledge in your next interview with your future IT manager.
