- [Instructor] Let's take a look at some of the different encryption options that we have with Wi-Fi, such as WEP, WPA, WPA2, as well as WPA3. WEP or Wired Equivalency Privacy is outdated. It can be hacked, and you need to either upgrade your access point, PC, or both. So if you don't have the option to go to something newer other than web, then your devices must be really old and it's time to upgrade them. The next iteration of security and encryption with Wi-Fi was WPA, which stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access, and it uses a couple of different protocols. It uses either TKIP or PSK. PSK stands for Pre-Shared Key and TKIP stands for Temporal Key Integrity Protocol. WPA is more secure of the two, but they're both outdated. They both can be hacked, and once again, if you don't have the option in either your access point or your Wi-Fi card connected to your computer, then you really need to upgrade one or both.
