- [Instructor] Okay, so now that we have installed the AD DS, let's just go through the steps of promoting the server to a domain controller. So, we don't have a domain or a forest, or anything yet, so we are going to choose the option to add a new forest. So, we have to give it a name. So, our name will be hplussport.local. So, let's select Next. So, few things to keep in mind. First of all, by default, since it's a new domain controller to a new forest, it's going to need a DNS and a global catalog server. And by default, it's going to put it in the first one. You can change the DNS basically later to a different server, different domain controller, however you choose. But the global catalog will be installed here by default. Now, let's pay attention to these two important levels, which is the forest functional level and domain functional level.
