- [Instructor] Though a lot of testing can be done using just voiceover on a Mac or narrator on Windows, in reality, these are not the most commonly used tools out there. Instead, there are more widely used screen readers developed by companies that specialize in building accessibility tools. Let's look at two of them. NVDA and JAWS. NonVisual Desktop Access, or NVDA, is a free screen reader available for Windows PCs. It can be used in web browsers, email clients, office programs, music players, and other programs. It has been translated into over 50 languages. According to user statistics from the NV access server, there are an average of 47,000 users per day. Let's dig into how NVDA is used. To start using NVDA, a user would click Control+Alt+n. Once NVDA is turned on, like we saw for voiceover, there are a number of keyboard shortcuts for commonly used navigation scenarios.
