Demo: vCenter scheduled backups and retention policies
- [Rick] In this video, I'll demonstrate how to set up scheduled backups and a retention policy for the vCenter Server Appliance using the VAMI, the vCenter Appliance Management Interface. So here I am at the home screen for the VAMI, and I'm going to click on backup. And you can see I've already done a couple manual backups that I sent to an SMB share, and I demonstrated that process in the last video. So we can now do either NFS or SMB backup destinations for the vCenter Server Appliance. And you can see all of the different backup potential destinations shown here at the top of the screen. So I can push my file-based vCenter backups to FTP, HTTPS, SFTP, FTPS, NFS, SMB, and HTTP. But in this demo, I'm going to stick with SMB since I've already created my SMB share. And so next to backup schedule, I'm just going to click on configure, and I'm going to put in my backup location here. This is the exact same location that…
