- All right, if you want to use VMware or MacOS, it's important to realize what type of MacOS computer you have. So go to the Apple menu, select about this Mac, and you will find the chip version that you are using. And as you can see, I'm using Apple M1. You have two options here. Either you see Apple M1, M2 or M3 or maybe when by the time you watch this M4 or even later, you see Intel. If you use Apple M1, you are on Apple Silicon, which is based on ARM CPUs. ARM CPUs are not compatible with Intel and AMD CPUs. So for virtualization, everything is going to be different and you need to be really careful to select the appropriate virtualization product. One product that does work is VMware Fusion, and you can find VMware fusion on vmware.com. That is a VMware Fusion Pro and a VMware fusion player and VMware fusion player is lacking some of the more advanced features.
