Differences between Player and Pro
- So for VMware workstation as well as Fusion, there is Player and there is Pro. Now, what exactly are the feature differences? VMware Pro additions offer features that are not available in Player. These are UEFI secure boot, and Snapshot, encrypted VMs, custom Virtual Networking, a connection to vSphere, and Clones. Now of the features that in my opinion, you are going to miss most, these are snapshots and clones because they are really convenient. Clones allow you to easily reproduce a virtual machine and use it as a foundation for your continuous work. And a snapshot allows you to freeze the current point in time of your virtual machine that allows you to revert. The Pro additions are for purchase only. You do have a free trial license. This trial license is time limited. If you want to use virtualization for free, you can use the player additions for home and non-professional use, they will always be free.
