While both are focused on communicating a message to an audience, they differ in their goals and the context in which they are used. Copywriting, at its core, is primarily focused on creating words that communicate ideas, or, in many cases, persuade a reader to take a specific action. Much of copywriting is marketing-oriented, helping drive a purchase or a call to action, such as making a purchase on an e-commerce website or signing up for a newsletter. Copywriting is not as restricted to the digital landscape as UX writing is either. You can find copywriters crafting persuasive language for billboards, magazines, and other print media. In essence, copywriting aims to serve the goals of a business with carefully chosen words.
