- [Instructor] Outlook has been around for about 25 years, and the vast majority of organizations that use both Outlook and Teams started with Outlook and then added Microsoft Teams, a number of them during the global pandemic, and so then they had two products, but users quickly realized that there's a lot of overlap between what you can do with these two applications. Some even asked, why do we use both of these? Why do we still use Outlook if we have Teams? Well, the reason is, despite the huge overlap, there are types of communications that Outlook is best for and types of communications best done with Teams, and some things that can only be done in one of these two applications. Let's look at Outlook first. Outlook shines for asynchronous communication, which means communication where you're sending someone a message and they don't have to be there and reply right away.
