Exploration of ProBuilder tools

- [Instructor] ProBuilder has amazing tools to help you work on your scene and block it or add 3D objects, let's explore what it offers. So first of all, whatever it is that you're doing, the menu will change based on what you're doing. So let's make sure that we dock this menu somewhere so we can always have access to it. So what I'm going to do is grab it and put it to the side of the inspector right here. So as you can see, if I click on something here, like new shape, the rest of the menu will change based on that. But if you want to see icons on, when you're familiar with the ProBuilder menu, what you can do is change the menu to icon mode, like so, but because we're not quite familiar yet with any of this, let's make sure that we revert back to text mode. So let's go ahead and create our first shape. But one thing that you should pay attention before you do that is the grid system. So the grid system is there to help you as you build and add stuff to your scene. So as you can see on the floor, I have like these squares that are going across my scene and also outside. So this is the grid system. It's something to guide you when you build your environments or your scenes. And if you want to remove it, you can click on the toggle, the visibility of the grid here. And if you don't see it, it's probably because it's turned off, like so. So one thing that you could do is also change the direction of the grid. So if you want to have the grid on the x-axis, which we can't quite see, because while yeah, we can on the side here, it's on this z-axis you can also change it to the z-axis likes so. So the z-axis, you can see it on the wall here. So if we move a little bit further. It's right here, like so. But I want to see it on the floor because I'm going to start adding things to my scene inside of that room. So let's bring it back to where it was, which is the y-axis. Also you can change the opacity so you can put it at one. And most likely the default is 0.5. It doesn't matter. You can put it near zero, 0.5, as long as you can see what you're doing. And when you don't want to see it, then you can turn it off by clicking here. Okay? So this is a guide. So when you use ProBuilder, this is always useful because this is basically the square. This is the z-axis, this is the x and then the y is high. So if we start a new shape, so let's go ahead and click on U shape like so. so we have all these different shapes that we can use an add to our scene. So we have cones, cylinders, planes and so on and so forth. So when you add a new elements, so let's say we wanted to add a piece of furniture in the corner here. Let's select a cube for that case. And what I'm going to do is start adding a piece of furniture. So you're going to see this little yellow dock here and take a look at what the size does as you start clicking and dragging. So by clicking and dragging, you're going to start making how big your square is going to be. So if you want to have a one by one, you can basically follow the guide here, like so, and also the grid and when you release the mouse, now you're going to do the height of your objects. So let's say I want it to have a piece of furniture that is two square high, then that would be roughly where I wanted to have it. And what you can do also is go inside of that particular square and make changes directly inside of the dimensions if you want to have something that's really one by two by one, then once you have your object done, you can literally go and change how big this thing is. Also, if you want to shape this to something else, you can also use the tools here. So if you're not familiar with 3D terms, the vertex are the corners. There's the edges are the lines. And then the faces are these faces. So this is a faces. This is a face. So if you select this, you're basically selecting that face. So what I want to do, let's say, for example, I want to make a corner for that particular piece of furniture. I could click on the vertex, then select that vertex. And now you're going to see that you can actually change. And I have the tool in the way. You can actually change the vertex position like so. And all the tools that you have access to when you're actually working with an object are also so available here. So if you type e you're going to be able to twist this thing, r to scale it and w to move it basically the same way that you would move any objects within your scene. If you want to change the edges, you can select the edge. And then again, start moving the edge that you selected in this case, we've selected this edge here, and we can start moving this edge. And this piece of furniture is going to be ugly when we're done with it. And then the faces, if you want to select the faces, then you can select this face and then start moving that face like so and so on and so forth. So this is the new shape or the new, I would say, object, 3D object tool. There's also a new poly shape, which is fairly similar to what we just done here, but instead of creating an object from a 3D object. So let's say, for example, you don't want to use any of those shapes here. You can use a new poly shape and your poly shape is basically using vertex to build objects. So let's say for example, we wanted to create a cube. Then you would do for vertex, like so, and then connect them. And then you would have a new piece furniture that you would create with the height. So you can create all kinds of objects using vertices like so. So when you're done with all this, you can basically click out of that and you can work with your object as you would, any objects inside of your scene. So I'm going to remove that one here, so right click, delete it, and then keep this one as a reference. So, you know, down the road that you can build something and have a piece of furniture that is ugly in the corner right here, like so. So I'm just going to position it as you can see, the grid is very useful because right now I have this one by one by one object that I want to put in a corner and there you go. I have something that sits in the corner right here, and you can leverage ProBuilder to build a whole bunch of things. And again, it's mostly used to block and create floors and walls and things like that. So really simple geometry. And you've seen if you want to create complex geometry, unity is not the tool for that or a ProBuilder is not the tool for that. You want to use a 3D program such as cinema 4D, Maya, Blender or Zbrush. And create your objects with these types of software. So this is a great introduction to the initial tools you'll play with ProBuilder.
