Demo of using AI to analyze a financial report

- So for this demo, we're going to be using ChatGPT here. We're going to paste in the prompt and we are going to attach a document. You need to attach a document to get this to work. So I'm just going to upload a file here. You can see right there that it is currently uploading. Once it's uploaded, we will put it in. Now these calculations that we are doing at the moment, if you are going to rely on these to make business decisions, please double check them, because these are large language models, not large mathematical models. So I want you to check first of all that the information it's got from the document is correct, that the calculations are correct and its analysis of those calculations are correct. So let's have a look here. This should give you a pretty good initial indication though. So at the moment, it's saying it's reading the documents. It will tell us the information that it's going to try to find in the document. It's saying it's analyzing at the moment. So we'll wait until it's done the calculations. So it's found on error. It's trying again. Okay, so it says that it couldn't get the information. Now I know the information is in there, so I'm just going to say the information is in the document. Please try again. Okay, so it seems to have done a pretty good job there. It's given us the calculations, gross profit margin, operating profit margin. We're not going to analyze Walmart here, we're just using it as a case study at the moment. So analysis of stage one since profitability is stable, et cetera. So it's giving us an analysis of those figures to say how healthy they are benchmarked with everything else that's out there. So let's say please move on to stage two. As you can see, it seems to have done a relatively good job again, giving us the current ratio, quick ratio and cash ratio. Now we're going to move on. We're going to fast forward through the next sections and we'll come back at the very end once everything's done. Okay, wow. So you might be able to see there. It's given us some great information. It's given us those numbers, which will give us at least an indication of what's going on. So what we can do after this though, you see it gives us analysis of each stage and then it's given us an overall analysis at the end. If we were interested in investing, then it might be some other things that we would want to know so we can carry on a conversation. So let's say please give me a list of current trends in retail technology and consumer behavior, and explain how these might impact Walmart's growth over the next three years. And it will then, based on the information that it's got from the financial report and based from this additional information that we're asking it to put together, it'll be able to combine those to say, well, based on that, then this is how it might impact this company. And that could be interesting if you are going to be somebody who's interested in investing or doing some kind of business deal or anything with a company. So we can see here that it being ChatGPT, it's got access to the internet. So it's found us some sources for articles here. Let's go further up. It's saying integration of advanced technology. So it explains how AI and automation might impact. There we go, augmented reality and immersive commerce. There, so it's given us some interesting stuff to consider and we could say here, are these trends, opportunities, or risks? And we can see what it says about that. So we can carry on this conversation once we've got all of that information initially from the report. But give this a go. I hope that you find this useful.
