Set a default format for a field
- [Instructor] Some fields, especially those that contain numbers, are easier to read when you apply formatting. In this movie, I will show you how to save time by assigning a default format to a field. My sample file is 09_03_DefaultFormat, and you can find it in the Chaper 9 folder of the Exercise Files collection. In this workbook, I have a text table that summarizes the total of orders for each of the cities where my company has a hotel. The numbers have sort of a generic format, a basic format, where I have the hundreds and thousands separator as a comma which is common in the United States. If I wanted to assign a format that indicates this is money or a currency value, I can do that by changing the default. So I'll go over to the sidebar and right click the order total pill, and then I will point to Default Properties, and the third item is number format, so I'll click there.
