Display a viz in a tooltip
When you hover your mouse pointer over a data point in a visualization, Tableau displays a tooltip that summarizes the data represented by the point. In this movie, I will show you how to edit those tooltips, as well as how to include a visualization within a tooltip. My sample file is 09_06_Viz in tooltip, and you can find it in the Chapter_09 folder of the Exercise Files collection. This workbook contains two worksheets and on sheet one, I have a Treemap that breaks down sales based on customer type and also product category. And if I move my mouse pointer over one of the areas, you can see that I get a tooltip with the customer type, the product category and the order total. Order total affects the size of each of the areas and also their color. So darker areas have larger values and lighter have smaller values. On sheet number two, I have a series of line graphs showing the trend for a customer type, blue is business and orange is individual, for each product category for the year…
