- [Instructor] There are special commands that you use, special mentions, if you want to notify everyone in your workspace or everyone in a channel. The first, @channel, lets everyone in the channel know that something is important that they need to know. @channel triggers an alert for the channel members whether they are active or away. We use @channel to make an announcement that is pertinent to everyone in the channel. If your channel has more than six members, Slack will ask you to confirm that you want to do this. This is the default behavior, but the owner of your workspace could turn that off. The next type of an announcement that we create is using @here, and you use @here when you want to send to everyone in the channel, but only if they're currently active. So I'd use @here when I have a client asking a question, and I need a quick response. I don't need a response tomorrow or the day after or the day…
