- While drafting job descriptions, have you noticed sometimes hiring managers say they need someone with great time management or decision making skills? Or while interviewing a candidate, you meet someone with amazing communication skills. These are some examples of soft skills. While hard skills are necessary to perform technical tasks, soft skills are personality traits and skills that help people work effectively with others in an organization. Essentially, soft skills are non-technical skills and are more difficult to measure than hard skills. They're also known as core skills or power skills, as they're not restricted to specific jobs.
