What do lists and libraries have in common?

- Now, some of you might be wondering why are we spending so much time talking about lists? Libraries are what I'm the most interested in. Well, I have a very simple reason. Almost everything you've learned about lists is directly applicable to libraries too. In a very real sense, most of SharePoint is lists. Libraries are really lists of documents. They just also happen to have the document attached to the record. So understanding lists is really crucial to understanding libraries. Here's a typical document library. And actually, I want to make a point. I've said this before but I almost wish these weren't called document libraries. Since you can store almost any kind of file in one. About the only thing you can't put in a SharePoint library is an executable file. And I really wish they were called file libraries instead because I think that's much more accurate.
