- [Paul] Sometime ago here in the series, I did a video on artificial lighting in Revit files, and I talked about customizing light fixture families to include a photometric web file. Now, photometric web file is a file that is provided by lighting manufacturers that allows the light source to more accurately represent the shape and configuration that the light will actually fall in the space. So it's a much more accurate way of creating better quality renderings using light fixtures that you either create yourself or that you download from the internet. So these files have an extension of IES. You can go to any light fixture manufacturer, and chances are you will find Revit families for their fixtures that they sell. But also, you should be able to find someplace on their website where you can download these IES files and assign them to light fixtures that you create as well.
