Creating proxy files in Premiere Pro
- Now, we're on set here, and we're using laptops. I might take this laptop and hop on an airplane and want to work with that media, or maybe I'm using an older system that really just needs, you know, not as much storage space is available. So sometimes we're going to make proxy files. These are files that we use in the beginning, but they're never really meant for final delivery. - That's true, and I want to make one big distinction here. This is slightly different than a regular transcoded workflow where you're doing this process manually. As far as Premiere Pro is concerned, this is sort of a managed transcode, right? We're taking these files, we're letting Premiere Pro do all the heavy lifting, and transcoding those files-- - Yeah. - But it's also aware that, oh yeah, here are the proxy files, and then here are my original files. - And it's beautiful when you do it right because it means that when it comes time to re-link to the high quality files, it's like a one click…
