- Wouldn't it be great if you could magically double the processing speed of a Raspberry Pi? Actually, you can. Sort of. It's called overclocking and it's a way to increase the maximum processor speed. But it does come at a cost. Let's take a look. Hi, I'm Mark Niemann-Ross and welcome to this weeks' edition of "Raspberry Pi Weekly." Every week we explore the Raspberry Pi and share useful tips. First, a warning. Overclocking the Raspberry Pi isn't normal. You may temporarily lock up your Raspberry Pi. It's possible you'll corrupt the SD card and it's possible you'll overheat the CPU. If you're going to experiment with overclocking your Raspberry Pi, it's essential to do something to dissipate that heat. I recommend a heat sync and a fan providing good air flow.
