- [Presenter] Have you ever uploaded a photo to your phone or computer and it magically identified your friends, family, pets, or even the location? Or maybe you wondered how car's dashboard camera recognizes road signs and pedestrians in real time. Well, it may seem like magic, but it's image classification. Computers don't see like we do. To them, an image isn't cute puppy or a tasty cake. It's a grid of numbers, just raw data. Teaching machines to go from crunching numbers to actually understanding what's in the image is one of my favorite challenges. Image classification is a core task in computer vision, a field of AI focused on enabling computers to interact and make decisions based on visual data. It is super useful and has some applications in real-world scenarios. From facial recognition on your phone to sell driving cars recognizing road signs, image classification is everywhere.
