Scenario: Managing a project’s technical component
- In this scenario, I'll introduce you to an organization that has deployed some new technology but is having some difficulties. After listening to this true scenario, consider what we've discussed in this chapter and determine what you believe was missing from the project that led up to deploying this new tech. After I present the scenario, I'll take a short pause and then I'll share what actually occurred. Here's the scenario. A company sought to increase its production capacity by installing new robotics in five of their manufacturing facilities. While robotics wasn't new to the company, the extent and sophistication of the new robotics they desired would triple the automation in their manufacturing plants. This would more than double their throughput without adding any manufacturing lines. It was a big investment but company leaders saw this as an outstanding opportunity so they enthusiastically launched the robotics…
