- Event log capture relies on digital breadcrumbs, the user actions in any IT system or application. Think of updating a customer record, deleting a document, or submitting an order. Each of these events leaves behind a unique entry in an application's event log, which is automatically generated by most enterprise applications. Today, this event data is detailed and standardized enough to be mined for insights by process mining algorithms. Event logs from popular enterprise software, like SAP or Salesforce are standard integrations for the top process mining tools in the market. But how do the algorithms work? By keeping track of unique identifiers within event data, they piece together the chain of actions that a particular item undergoes to reach completion.
