- So far, we've learned the bread and butter of analytics. Now we're going to talk about a few tools that will help you take your analytics to the next level. Python and R, a programming language like one of these will allow you to complete more advanced analyses and provide you with greater control to customize and speed up data processing. Before I dig in more, I'm going to address a few questions you might have. First, do you need skills in a programming language like Python or R to get a data analytics role? The answer is no. Plenty of roles out there stick to the basic skills like SQL and a BI tool. However, many roles do require a programming language especially more senior level roles so having these skills will only help you stand out and open more opportunities.
