- Using the remove grain effect in After Effects is quite useful, but it's not that fast and it requires you to jump programs. Fortunately there are many third party solutions on the market. Let's explore one of those from Red Giant called Denoiser. I'll tackle the same shot here, and go over to my effects panel. You'll see that there is a group called Red Giant Denoiser and you can simply apply that to the footage. The controls are pretty simple. First up, depending what frame you're on, that can become the sample frame. So you could put the play head where you want and click sample, and it will analyze that frame. You'll also note it supports GPU acceleration, which is important. Let's take a look at this at 200% and navigate up towards the top area where there was noise. Not too bad. The enhancement amount is how aggressive you want it to be combined with the noise reduction amount. Right now it's been set to 100%, which is the recommended value.
