- [Instructor] When I first started working on websites, it was very common for people to build one website for mobile devices and another one entirely for personal computers. This changed when responsive design came along, allowing us to create a single website that displayed no matter what device you were viewing it on. Most organizations consequently waved goodbye to desktop websites that looked terrible on mobile, text that was too small to read, or websites that were just impossible to use. Adaptive design is similar to responsive design in that it adapts to different screen sizes. However, there are notable differences. Let's talk through them. What is adaptive design? According to the Interaction Design Foundation, adaptive design is where your design uses fixed layout sizes for different screens.
