How to use a notebook FAQ
- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to start looking at the various documents that could be created using NotebookLM, and we'll start with the FAQ, or the frequently asked questions. At first glance, the option to create an FAQ from a source document may seem to be a bit extraneous; not really. The purpose of the FAQ is to present you with an overview of the content's key concepts by asking questions raised by the content, and providing you with detailed and accurate contextual answers based on NotebookLM's understanding of the document. So I'm going to create the FAQ. You can see it's generating a new note, and it tells me it's an FAQ, and if I select it, there it is. And as we go through it, you can see there are eight questions and concise answers are presented. The neat thing about this feature is it also highlights concepts presented in the article that you may not have encountered. For example, the concept of unfinished is not something UX/UI designers commonly understand. But if we go to section seven, or question seven right here, the concept of unfinish is presented and explained in about a hundred words. Notice how the FAQ distills it into an easily understood group of paragraphs. At this point, you can choose to convert the note to a source, so the FAQ will move over here or you can delete it. You can also make use of the chat feature down here to understand terminology that may be new. In this concept of unfinish, there's this word here: hypermediacy. What the heck is that? Ask the question in the chat, and you get a good rundown on what it's about. Not only do you get a definition, but notice the numbers. Again, there are the references or citations to the concept in the article. For instance, if I just roll over the one, the relevant section of the article is presented. You can also copy and paste this and add it to a new note or even save it as a new note, and even better, you can rate the response.
