Filling in the holes: Clone Stamp

- In our previous example, you saw how we could accurately select elements and move them to their own layer. The challenge though, when you make that move, is that you leave a hole behind. And that hole is going to look quite strange in your photograph, particularly as you start to animate the camera and move it around. Now, there are several techniques that you can use to fill in the missing information. Let me show you a few of those. First up is cloning. In this case, I've got a shot of some artwork here from Canada. They're traditional totem poles made by people of the Pacific Northwest. And what I want to do is remove them from the background. So let's take a look at the object. I'll turn the background off, and you'll see that each of these has been extracted to their own layer.
