From the course: Microsoft Fabric Data Flows and Data Storage

Course data configuration

- [Instructor] Microsoft Fabric incorporates many elements of Power BI, and the first Power BI element that we are going to use is to create a workspace for the course data. Select the workspace icon and then select New Workspace. We're going to name this workspace Class Workspace and call it Fabric Work. We aren't going to be using domains. We have the option of uploading a image to the workspace. I'm going to skip that step. You can use any image you would like as long as the file size is smaller than 56K. Some examples might include a color dot with the name of the workspace in it, or a company logo. If you want to do this, I have included an icon in the class files and you can download that to your hard drive and upload it to the workspace. Next, I'm going to select the Advanced menu and then make sure that trial is selected. Since I know that is selected, I'm going to go ahead and select Apply. This is creating our new Class Workspace, which we are going to be using for the class. So in using the icon on the bottom of the screen, I'm going to select this menu to go to Microsoft Fabric. Here within Microsoft Fabric, I'm going to select Synapse Data Engineering. From within Data Engineering, we're going to select that we want to use a sample, and the sample that we are going to select is Public Holidays. This will take a few seconds to complete. Now that we see that it has completed, we're taken to the Data Explorer. We can see that a SQL endpoint has been created for the lake house that we just created as well. And here is a preview of the data that was loaded. Congratulations, you just loaded your first lake house. We can take a look at that here within the Class Workspace, and we'll see that we have a dataset, a SQL endpoint, and a lake house.
