Using depth mattes
- Some cameras, like smartphones actually have more than one lens, and it may even have a LIDAR sensor which is able to measure depth information about the scene. Now, sometimes this is used on your camera for things like portrait mode but this information can actually be seen by Adobe Camera Raw as well, as long as it's passed on. Keep in mind that not all smartphones have it but it is something that's popping up more and more. Let's open up an image here into Camera Raw and if we go on over to the masking section you'll notice that we have different ranges including with this image, a depth range. Now, this type of option won't be available on all images. In this case, I'm not actually using a raw file. I'm using an HEIC file. This is a very common format and it includes the depth information. I'm going to choose depth range, and it gives me some controls. Now we have basically far away, to close. Now if I look at this here…
