Who's involved in mapping
- Typically, whoever's responsible for the user experience of your product should own the mapping process, but that doesn't mean they're the only people involved. Many people on the team will have knowledge and data to contribute, and having more team members involved in creating the map means that more people will feel ownership of the results. That translates into more people who can spread the message of the data and findings that the map is describing. A map creation exercise is also a great chance to get more team members out and interacting with real users or customers. Physical site visits or virtual customer interviews are a great way of collecting data for the mapping process. With just a tiny bit of training in how to conduct good research and ask non-leading questions, you can get any member of your product development team to gather user research data.
