- [Narrator] In new or existing diagrams, you can add shapes to the page by dragging and dropping from an open stencil. I've created a new diagram from the basic shapes template and there are six open stencils: basic shapes, arrows, graphs and math shapes, banners, callouts, and symbols. No matter which template or sample diagram you use, be sure to check the shapes window to see which stencils were opened by default. If you need a stencil that isn't visible, click the plus sign, scroll down to find what you need. I'm going to use blocks and click the add button. From this stencil, I'll add a donut shape to the page. Then I'll return to the arrows stencil and add several arrow types. Anytime you drop shapes onto a page, be on the lookout for yellow control handles. Visio shapes are not necessarily fixed and many can be adjusted to create just what you're looking for.
