Generate procedure manuals in Word from Visio process maps
- [Instructor] After building a flow chart or a swimlane diagram to document a work process, it's common to create a procedure manual to accompany the map, often by copying and pasting various diagram elements into a Word document and then writing accompanying text. Unfortunately, the more complex the process, the more tedious and time consuming that becomes. Visio's export to Word feature is designed to eliminate the majority of the tiresome work so you can concentrate on adding value to the resulting document. Let's try it for ourselves using exercise file HR Recruiting flowchart with subprocess. With the diagram open, select the Process tab and click the Word button. The export to word pane opens and builds the snippets it will export. Each thumbnail in the pane focuses on a single shape and shows its immediate neighbors.
