Creating cutaways using section planes
- [Narrator] Another way to reveal more information about your model is to use what's called a Section Plane. Now this is great for creating floor plans, but it can also be used as a modeling tool. So the Section Plane is found here with all the other measurement tools, and it's this one here. So let's go ahead and select the Section Plane. And what this allows you to do is snap this to a plane. So let's go ahead and just do a top down view. So I'm going to go ahead and just hover over the ground here and just left click and that locks in the Section Plane. Well, because we locked it in on the ground we're not really seeing much. But what I can do is I can use my select tool to highlight the actual Section Plane, and then use my move tool to move it up or down. And so as you can see, when I move it up it just creates a section of that building. So now I have basically an open view of that. Now this can be used in a number of…
