The unified building information model

- [Instructor] Revit is a tool that's designed to facilitate the concept of Building Information Modeling or BIM. Now, what exactly is BIM? Well, there are many aspects to BIM, but at its core, one of the most basic features of BIM is this idea that you have a single unified model that you can make changes to, and the changes will be instantly reflected in all aspects of the model. Now, the easiest way to understand that concept is to see it firsthand. So what I'd like to do here in this sample model is demonstrate some of the basic ideas behind BIM by opening up a few additional views. Now, first of all, this is the sample model that comes with the software. I showed you how to open this in an earlier video. So if you're not sure how to get to this file, you can go back and rewatch that video now. Now what I want to do is open up four additional views other than this cover sheet that we see here.
