- [Instructor] To get your project schedule started, you create a new project in Microsoft Project. Here's the no frills way to do that. On the home screen in Microsoft Project, click the icon, Blank Project, that creates a new file and it's called automatically, "Project One." If a project is open, a keyboard shortcut is really fast, just press Control N and Project creates another new project. This one is called, "Project two." Each new project you create in a session gets a higher number. Now let's set the project start date. Go to the Project tab and then click Project Information. The start date is for tasks that don't have a set start date, or any predecessors. We're going to set the start date to June 5th, 2028. Notice that the schedule from box is set to, "Project Start Date." That's what you usually want, because that way you can see when the project can finish.
