Refine motion with timing and keyframe controls - After Effects Tutorial
From the course: Learning After Effects
Refine motion with timing and keyframe controls
We've looked at what the tools built into After Effects can do to enable refined animation. Now let's apply a couple of animation techniques that go beyond After Effects. One is Overshoot and the other is Speed Ramping. I'm going to show you the setup for Overshoot and then explain what I did. I'm starting at the final keyframe for Mighty. I'm going to go forward one keyframe using Page Down on my keyboard and increase the Scale value just a little bit, 430-ish. Then I'll go to the next frame and reduce it down closer to 410, 412 is fine. Then I'm going to copy and paste that first keyframe back here. Let's take a look at what that did. It's subtle, but it's as if there's a little bit of a spring on that landing. If I made the difference between the values greater, it would be springier. But I want this to be almost imperceptible, and I think it's doing its job. This isn't a feature of After Effects, this is something that animators do. To finish this off, I'm going to add speed…
