Here is a situation that would have been almost hopeless before the automated Rotoburst tool came around. This wave has a large amount of fast-moving organic detail along its edge of foamy water and I need to select it precisely for it to look realistic rolling over the here text. So how the heck do I do it? Well, I've reorganized the composition into three layers and I'm going to be working on the top one which I've trimmed down to just the section where I need it. To complement that, I'll also trim the text so that it disappears once the matte is gone. So the wave's going to come in and wash away the text. I'll double-click to open it in a layer because I know I need to do that for Rotobrush. That was in the previous lesson. And I will select the tool. It's the right size. If it's not, I use Command or Control to rescale it, but the size doesn't matter. All I'm doing is drawing a square. And it's nowhere near the edges. It's just in the interior.
