- [Instructor] How are laws different from regulations? In broad terms, laws apply to all citizens or visitors of a governmental regime or jurisdiction. And regulations are rules typically designed for industries or practices. When you visit another country, you are expected to follow the laws of that nation. The laws of the country of your origin have little or no bearing on the jurisdiction of the nation you visit. This should also be understood similarly in the digital business context. Whenever you cross a digital geofence of a national border, you must follow the laws of that country just as you would if physically visiting. A legislative body usually develops laws. Conversely, regulations are codes of conduct or rules, typically designed for and applied to its specific industry or field of practice.
