How are audits used?
- [Instructor] The results of an AI audit are used for various purposes including improving the performance of AI systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, and building trust with internal and external stakeholders. While the recent push for AI audits aims to help companies stay compliant with regulations, audits can also be performed to better understand how bias impacts an AI system. As responsible AI matures, we'll attempt to more concretely define harm mitigation techniques. AI risk assessments or impact assessments while important, often differ from AI audits. A risk assessment is a chance to make an informed guess about the kinds and levels of risk facing an AI system. These are often stepping stones to AI audits. Risk assessments involve various stakeholders but they often don't investigate outcomes based on assessing the predictions and algorithm makes on new data.
