- [Instructor] The way we develop AI is heavily influenced by how leaders in Silicon Valley develop software. There's a race to get products to market investor-driven FOMO, or the fear of missing out, and a push for extremely high returns on investments. Ultimately, AI inherited poor engineering practices from traditional software. Product management teams often try to match industry analyst forecasts on timelines for developing software. However, these forecasts can't successfully be applied to AI tools. Many assume building AI takes the same form and time is traditional software but dealing with training data and model hyperparameters add complexity. The current AI development lifecycle promotes poor data privacy practices and hinders auditability.
