- [Instructor] In this lesson, we're going to cover multicast routing over the Cisco SD-WAN fabric. Now, what is multicast routing? Well, at its simplest, it's a way to reduce data streams for multicast media. So if I had five users of A, B, C, D, and E, and only four wanted to receive like a video stream of the video camera off on the left, well, instead of sending four video streams like to A, and then a second one to B, and then a third one to D, and then a fourth one to E, you know, in this case, we actually are consuming four times the amount of bandwidth across the links between R1 and R4. And then we're consuming two times the bandwidth between R4 and R5, and two times the amount of links on R4 and R6. When realistically with multicast routing, we can consolidate that down to a simple one data stream across each of these transports. Now, multicast operates based off of the destination IP address. So the destination IP address for multicast is 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255…
