The two reasons to use AI in business
AI can be incredibly helpful in a couple of ways. The way that most people use it is to make tasks easier. It's great at that, but you can also use it to make you better at what you do. And I think that's far more valuable. The way I look at it, some tasks call for excellence, while others are perfectly fine with adequacy. And guess what? AI is really good at adequacy. In fact, you could say the AI excels at adequacy if it's possible to excel at being adequate. So let's explore this further by playing a little game that I like to call adequacy or excellence. The rules are quite simple. I will give you a task and you tell me if it requires adequacy or excellence. Just shout your answer at the screen and I'll pretend that I heard you. Ready? Here we go. Email a colleague about when you're free for a meeting. That's right. Adequacy. Respond to a sales inquiry email. Excellent choice. Excellence is. Convert text to HTML markup. You got it. Adequacy. Plan a presentation to your boss. Of course, excellence. Summarize a long document. Adequacy with accuracy. That's the key here. Write me a message to tell me how much you love the course. Absolutely, excellence. I wouldn't expect anything less. Thank you for playing. Understanding whether you need adequacy or excellence will make it easier for you when it comes time to write an effective prompt. In this course, we'll be adding prompts to both ChatGPT and Bing, which uses a version of ChatGPT that's connected to the Internet. To use ChatGPT, just head over to chat.openai.com and sign in or sign up. And to use Bing's AI, you'll need the latest version of the Microsoft Edge browser which you can download for PC, Mac, and mobile devices. If you want a link to downloads and instructions, you can always head along to a page that I've created for you right here. Once you've got these two things ready, we can dive in and get going. Excellent.
