Improving a dark shot in After Effects
- Sometimes you're going to find that your footage is really dark. It's because maybe there wasn't enough light in the scene and it just gets difficult to get it right. Well, there are many different ways to do this but only a few are going to give you the best results. Let me show you what's possible. Here, we have our initial shot, a relatively low light shot of a bedroom scene of two people getting ready to go to bed. However, the ability to see our subjects is a bit challenged. If you look at dark end, you'll see that I've compensated a bit here, using a little bit of trickery. In this case, we've actually layered the footage on top. This allows us to combine multiple clips with blending modes. So what I'm going to do is just duplicate the footage and turn off the volume because I don't need it to add up. From the mode column, I could try modes like screen or add. And what that does is add to the light.…
