- One of my favorite capabilities of the After Effects text engine is to create templates that could be handed off to Premier Pro. This works really well because it means that you can design in After Effects but then the editor can easily make their own changes while they're working on a project. Let me show you. Here in After Effects, we've got a simple project built. Notice there's the backdrop and some animated text. Well, what I want to do is to be able to control some of these properties. So I'll go here to the window menu and bring up the essential graphics panel. Now what I could do is choose the comp that I want to work with, Mogrt start. Let's take a look here at this red property. So this currently is a solid color red that's in color mode and what I want to do is add a fill layer and we'll set that effect to use the red of the layer that it's on.
