How can I add text in After Effects?

- After Effects has a very robust text engine. In fact, it's very similar to the text engine that you'll find in other Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign with the key benefit that properties can be animated. Let's take a quick look at how to add text and then we'll explore some of the more advanced options. I've got a starter project here for you and you can take a look at the end text if you'd like. In this case, there's a piece of footage, it's been tweaked a little bit and then a background has been added and some text. Well, let's do this from scratch. You can open up the text backdrop here and it's got the footage in place. With command plus or minus, you can zoom in or out as needed. Now, I'll select the text tool and I'm going to draw out a box for the text. If you just click with the text tool, that's called point text and the text will go from the click point outward.
