Creating a 3D photo effect with Photoshop and After Effects part 1
- One of my favorite after effects techniques is to take photos and split them into three dimensions. By extruding the photo in 3D space, you can actually do more advanced pan and scan moves. One where you reveal parts of a photo. Now this technique is a little bit more advanced and requires some basic Photoshop skills and the ability to use 3D cameras and after effects. I'm going to give you a high level overview in two parts here so you get familiar with the technique. If it's something that interests you, I do have a full length course that goes much deeper. This technique is a classic. You've seen it in many documentaries where pieces of a photo are cut apart and feels like you're moving through. Notice in this image how the tent is feeling like it's behind and the ground also is moving at a different rate than the camera zoom. It just creates a feeling of being immersed in the photo and having a lot more depth.…
