Using the character map

- [Lecturer] Here's an icon I keep on all my Windows computers handy on the desktop. This is the Character Map app, one of the oldest programs in Windows first introduced with Windows NT 3.1 back in 1993. On the surface, the Character Map is a simple font viewer. You can choose a font from this menu, and then you can scroll the list to view how the characters appear in the font, the entire variety. But the program is more than just a font viewer. Here's a document where I'd like to insert some special characters. Now, this program, Microsoft Word already has keyboard shortcuts and insert commands, but the Character Map app always works. Look for the character you want to add, click on it to select it, and then drag it into the program. Now, of course, some font adjustment is necessary here, but there's the character. It's pasted right into my document at the point where I release the mouse and it's in the right font…
