Using the VLOOKUP function
- [Instructor] VLOOKUP is a function that searches across columns in your spreadsheet for specific information that you need. VLOOKUP stands for vertical lookup because it searches for a given value vertically through a column. VLOOKUP searches for a given value in one column, and if a match is found, returns data from another column in that same row. I'll show you how to use the VLOOKUP function in this distributor list spreadsheet. Since this spreadsheet has a lot of information on it, it's tough to quickly look up information within the sheet. I'm going to use the VLOOKUP function on this sheet to find the email address for my contact at the distributor named Jabbersphere. To do this, I'll first find the VLOOKUP function. I'll type my formula in cell G1, so I'll start with an Equal sign, and I'll search for the VLOOKUP function by starting to type VLOOKUP.
